Thanks for tuning into 7 Days Of Skincare! Today we’re stepping into Day 3 our skincare special week. After exfoliating your body, and taking care of your peepers the second, we ask you to gently exfoliate your face (nothing else). This is a part of our extensive skincare regime for Be For Beauty’s Beauty special this month.
Day 3 To Better Your Skin: Exfoliate Your Face on Wednesday
If your skin is starting to lose its healthy glow, a serious midweek slough is the easiest and least expensive thing you can do to.
What is the best time to exfoliate my face?
Ideally, do it after thoroughly wiping away your makeup to get soft dewy skin. You see, exfoliating at night allows your skin to work extra hard as you sleep, and repair damage. Also at night, your skin has less chances of getting irritated, and lead to open pores. In the morning your skin will feel fresh, clean and hydrated, and hold makeup better.
How big can the granules be?
The smaller the better. Ensure that the granules of the scrub are really fine, and do not feel rough to touch. Bigger harder granules can even leave a mark on your face. Look for gentle face scrubs with salt, sugar, rice, and oat exfoliants, they are usually better tolerated by your skin.
Use a light hand. Start with the periphery of the face and move your fingertips slowly in small circles. By the time you get to the more delicate cheeks and chin, your hands will be tired and naturally ease up. This year, facial brushes have been very big. So you can apply a gentle scrub and use a facial brush (on an automated slow speed) and go over your face thoroughly. Try Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant and Clarisonic Mia 1 Facial Sonic System
Is that the only way to exfoliate my face?
You can also try a mild acid according to your skintype. If you don’t know your skintype, click here to find it out.
If you have oily skin or acne prone skin, or going through a bad breakout phase then it’s better to stick to salicylic acid. This is especially good in your teen years and early years. I keep a salicylic acid face wash in case of any breakouts. You can
If you’re in your thirties, look for topical creams or face washes with glycolic acid (a type of AHA or alpha-hydroxy acid) that has small molecules, and hence penetrates the skin without irritating the skin. It boosts collagen, adds a glow to your face too!
If you have normal skin, look for hyaluronic acid, this’ll help boost your elasticity, make your skin more hydrated, taut and supple.
PS Overuse can leave your skin worse, so please use acids sparingly.
